Your main responsibilities will consist of:

• Day-to-day management of the firms Windows server environment

• Installation, management & troubleshooting of server hardware

• Technically assist the project office in developing new systems

• Implement new systems into the production environment in a controlled manner

• You will require the following technical skills and have demonstrated them extensively in a multi-site environment with at least 100 servers.

• Excellent knowledge of Windows 2003 server & Active Directory

• Good working knowledge of Group Policy

• HP Proliant server hardware

You should have experience in at least two of the following applications or technologies

• Cisco Catalyst switches

You will have extensive SQL Server skills in an enterprise size environment and be able to demonstrate strong knowlege in the following areas:

• Performance monitoring & tuning

• Backup & disaster recovery (including log shipping)

• Development & use of SQL Server DTS packages

• SQL security & auditing

• Stored procedures

• Capacity planning, including advising on architecture & hardware requirements

• Design, implementation & monitoring of scheduled tasks

You should also have strong skills and commercial experience in Microsoft SQL 2005 and Windows Server 2003

The role of the assistant will be to help out and free up time for the IT Manager. Current focus for the IT Assistant will be to take over the training function within the firm relating to IT. Applications and platforms used at present include: Imanage, Interaction, Carpe Diem, Laserforms and all MS Office application (Word, Excel, Outlook).

As the role will be varied some of your time will be delivering weekly training to various members of staff from general support, secretaries, Fee earners and Directors. After training you will then follow up by delivering one-to-one end user support.

The majority of your time will be floor walking and end user support so some hands on technical knowledge would be beneficial to this role. You will have to be able to troubleshoot and offer support on the firms hardware/software.
